CIMA Exam Dates 2019: Beware the Case Study Dates Deadline!
There are 3 levels in the CIMA exam under the qualification program. In each level, there are 2 types of tests — the objective tests and the strategy case studies. The CIMA exam dates for these 2 types are different. Please find the details below.

CIMA Exam Dates for Objective Tests
Since the computerization of the CIMA exam, the 9 objective tests have been offered on-demand, meaning we can take the exam anytime the CIMA exam centres are open. This pretty much means all business days throughout the year.
In other words, you don’t need to worry about a specific CIMA exam calendar for the objective tests – there is none!
CIMA Case Study Dates for 2019
The CIMA case studies are also computerized and are taken in the same Pearson VUE testing centres. What’s different is that the case studies are offered in 4 testing windows in a year:
- February
- May
- August
- November
The exam registration is open for 6 months. Pre-seen materials are available towards the end of the registration period. The actual testing window is quite short with only 5 days, so make sure you schedule way ahead.

CGMA and CIMA Gateway Exam Dates
As you can see from the chart, the CIMA Gateway exam dates are the same as those for the Management level case study exams.
The CGMA exam dates match with the Strategic level case study exams.
How to Reschedule CIMA Exam
Candidates are allowed to reschedule CIMA exam on their own within the following deadline:
- Cert BA: up to 48 hours before the exam
- Objective tests: up to 48 hours
- Case study exam: during the exam registration period
Rescheduling is the same process as scheduling your exam the first time:
- Log in to your MYCIMA account
- Confirm that the profile information is up to date
- Click “schedule your exam”

When can we take the Cert BA exam?

How long does it normally take to complete the CIMA exam?
One can expect to spend 3-6 years from start to finish, plus the time needed to fulfill the work experience requirements. It takes time because there are 12 papers to complete.
This exam takes too long. Is there an alternative?
The US exams use a qualifying exam system. This is much faster if you are able to pass on your first try. For example, the US equivalent of CIMA, the CMA exam administered by the IMA, has two exam parts. As long as you pass these two parts and accumulate two years of relevant experience, you are all set.
